The volume of the Tulip Tree cavity is comparable in size to a one-room apartment. The reason for this sad state of the tree is that it is almost 300 years old.
The trunk was split by 2 lightning strikes. The last time work to preserve the Tulip Tree was carried out was half a century ago.
